November Preschool Themes and Ideas
November is a fun month for preschoolers with so many exciting themes and activities. Below I'm highlighting a few favorite of our favorite November themes and engaging activities for the holidays.

Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month by introducing preschoolers to the rich traditions, cultures, and stories of Native American communities. Read some of our recommended preschool picture books written by Indigenous Authors.
Falling Leaves and Changing Trees
November is the perfect time to celebrate fall and the changing colors surrounding us, making it a great time to plan fun leaf activities. There are a lot of fun books that talk about leaves, trees, and all of the vibrant colors. You can also incorporate hands-on activities to go along with your leaves and trees theme.
STEM Day
STEM Day is celebrated on November 8th and is an opportunity to express the important aspects of science, technology, engineering, and math. Check out a few of my favorite STEM activities that I know your preschoolers will love!
Veterans Day
Veteran's Day is celebrated on November 11th. This is a day where we honor the men and women who have served our country. Here is a fun Veteran's Day freebie for your preschoolers to honor and give to a veteran. Squirrel and Acorns
Squirrels are a fun fall topic to cover in November. Preschoolers love these furry little creatures. A squirrel theme lets your preschooler dive a little deeper into the sights, sounds and fascinating aspects of nature.

Recycling is a very important way we can take care of the Earth. November 15th is a day dedicated to educating and reminding us about the importance of recycling as a simple way to help keep the Earth clean.
My Family and Home
Family and home life are so important for preschoolers, which is why we must include this theme in the classroom. For many students, this might be the first time they are away from their families. But, when we create an opportunity to talk, learn and do fun activities that celebrate our family, it fosters the feeling of safety and love. Here are a few of my favorite ways to bring family into the classroom!
Turkeys and Thanksgiving
One of the best parts about fall is Thanksgiving. It's a time where we express what we are thankful for, enjoy time with family, learn all about turkeys, and enjoy delicious food. Thanksgiving themes are packed with so many fun activities. Check out a few of our most favorite below.
Exploring Shadows
With the days growing shorter, explore the concept of shadows. Engage in activities where children can experiment with creating and playing with shadows.
Nocturnal Animals
November is a great month to explore Nocturnal Animals, and discusss day and night activities!
Game and Puzzle Week
The entire week of Thanksgiving we are celebrating being thankful but it's also National Game and Puzzle week. It's the perfect time to play your favorite game and learn some new ones. Games are great for learning, having fun and working on team-building skills. Grab a deck of cards and explore all the different card games you can play with your preschoolers.
Child Safety Protection Month
Did you know November is Child Safety Protection Month? This serves as an excellent opportunity to talk with our preschoolers about important topics like water safety,fire safety, being safe outdoors, and staying healthy. This month serves as an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about childhood safety!
Winter Clothes and Staying Warm
November is a fun month filled with vibrant colors and holidays, but it also means the weather is starting to get a bit colder! All the animals are beginning to prepare for winter, and so are we. As the temperatures start to drop, it is a great time to talk to your preschoolers about the type of clothes we wear in the winter and how we can stay warm.
