Teacher tip: Check your local craft store for the rings and ribbons. The Dollar Store also carries shower rings on occasion. We chose the colors of the rainbow but if you have extra ribbon in your classroom you can swap out colors.
Let's get started. For each set cut 2, 4 foot long strips of each color ribbon. However you can adjust the length to your needs.
After that you will fold one strip of red ribbon in half. Then place the shower ring at the folded end on top of the ribbon.
Bring the two ends of the ribbon up and through the loop to secure it to the ring Repeat this process for each of the orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple ribbons in that order.
Teacher tip: this is the perfect time to teach your preschoolers the order of the rainbow. You can use the acronym ROY G BIV
Now repeat the entire process with the remaining shower ring and ribbon strips One set of rainbow dance ribbons is complete!
Rainbow dance ribbons can be used for all activities in your classroom. And, it adds a variety to your props. These are also great to bring outside on a windy day for your students to run through the fields and watch out the ribbons move with the wind.
