For this theme consider adding extra construction paper, crayons, and markers in a variety of blue colors, along with the colors of the rainbow.  

*Tissue paper rainbow

Letting students tear tissue paper to use for this craft is half the fun. When they have enough colors have them scrunch up the tissue paper and  glue the pieces on paper in a rainbow shape. You can also cut paper plates in half, and cut out a small semicircle out of the bottom for a rainbow shape. Then students can glue their tissue paper on.

Rainbow Handprint

Paint hands in the colors of the rainbow and make prints. If desired children could add other elements around the rainbow.
​This is also an excellent time to practice hand washing!
*Teacher Tip: Whenever children are fingerpainting get a handprint to use later in craft projects.

Paint a Rainbow on the Window

This is a fun opportunity to explore window paint. Paint a rainbow on the window . Discuss the difference between painting on the window and painting on paper. Does it feel different? Does it look different?

Rainbow Unicorn

Provide a simple horse shape cutout, rainbow color yarn, paper tube and craft sticks for children to create a fun rainbow unicorn or other animal of their choice.

Fingerprint Rainbow

Make a rainbow outline for children to fill in with fingerprints. Discuss the different textures created by the fingerprints. Ask if they notice the swirls in the fingerprint, make comparisons. 
A dot marker could be used for children that prefer not to get their hands messy.

Take the rainbow fun outside and draw rainbows on the sidewalks for all to enjoy.

Preschool xylophones commonly come in a rainbow theme. Introduce this fun music instrument to your preschoolers and encourage free exploration.
