July Preschool Themes & Ideas
July is filled with fun holidays and celebrations that your preschoolers will love and plenty of opportunities for play, crafts, and outdoor exploring.
This month is a great time for your preschoolers to learn about picnics, celebrate Fourth of July, camping, have fun with ocean animals, and dive into outer space. These themes allow for hands-on exploration and learning for your preschoolers!
Picnics
Summertime is a great time to pack a basket of your favorite snacks and head to a local park for a picnic. Invite your preschoolers to make their own picnic table cloth. Picnics are a great time to eat watermelon and a fun time to explore those little guys who like to join in on the picnic- ants!

Fourth of July
Fireworks, and the red, white, and blue. Preschoolers love the celebrations, picnics, and parties associated with the Fourth of July! It's also a great opportunity to teach preschoolers about the importance of this holiday and celebrating the Fourth of July.
Outer Space
Do your preschoolers ask questions about the sun, the moon, and the stars? Even as adults there is so much unknown and wonder about outer space! This is a fun summer theme because of the clear skies and the ability to go outside at night to gaze!
Rocket Blast Off
Under the Sea
Summer is a great time to head to the beach. If there are no beach trips in your summer plans, it's still a great time to dive deeper into an ocean theme. There are so many plants, animals, and wildlife to explore in this theme, as the ocean is a fascinating place. Preschoolers love water and sea animals, so this theme will keep your preschoolers more than entertained this summer! Get your preschoolers moving and grooving like the sea animals with a set of free movement cards, perfect for large group time!
Camping
Camping is a summertime staple in many families. It's also always a huge hit when we bring a camping theme into the classroom. There is an extensive list of activities and topics you can learn about related to camping. Preschoolers also love a classroom transformation, so if you're able to bring a tent indoors then you're on track for the best summer ever! A camping dramatic theme pack makes it easy to turn your classroom into a campground. Fishing in the sensory table or a small pool is always a hit with preschoolers, too! A camping theme is a definite favorite and a must-do summer unit.
