For this craft you will need a few simple materials:
Start by punching holes on both sides of the plate, layer the plates together to punch holes through both so they match-up.
Break out the brushes and paint colors of your choose to decorate the drums. Paint the bottom of each plate.
For extra pizazz we add on some glitter glue and used a paint scraper to blend in the color and give the drum some texture. If you don't have a paint scraper tool you can easily make one from cardboard or use a plastic fork.
Next you will add the bells. Place your plates together so the inside of the plates are touching and both decorated sides are on the outside. Tape or staple them together for stability; be sure to line up your holes before you secure them.
Slip your string through the bell and tie a knot. then loop the string through both plates and tie.
**Note: the length of the string will depend on the size of plates you are using. The string should reach almost to the center of the plates.
Slip in a wooden dowel or craft stick and secure, if you are using a dowel you will want to do this step before attaching your plates together.
Play some music!
Once your drum is assembled and dry it's time to make some music!
Turn the craft stick back and forth making the bells hit the plate.
Add your rattle drum to your other DIY music instruments to add a fun new sound to the mix.
