Rain Cloud Preschool Craft
It's raining, its pouring...what better time for a rain cloud craft? Spring is in the air which means rain is in the forecast. Make a rain cloud craft with your preschoolers, this craft is simple and uses common craft materials. Pair this craft with your favorite books about spring weather. This craft is fun to do anytime and it pairs perfectly with your Clouds, Wind, and Rain Theme activities.
This craft uses common craft materials you likely already have on hand!
Let's Get Started:
You'll start by cutting out two matching clouds using white construction paper.
Cut several pieces of yarn with two matching raindrop pieces for each. Try bringing some measurement into this activity by having preschoolers use a ruler to measure the yarn as they cut it. This is a great step to include preschoolers in as they can practice measuring and cutting the yarn. A great activity for non-standard measurement.
Glue the bottom end of each string between the two matching raindrops. Glue the top section of the yarn to the inside of the cloud. A drop shaped paper punch would be great for this craft and they are so much fun to use. Preschoolers love paper punchers and they are little hard to squeeze making it an excellent fine-motor activity.
Glue the two clouds together with the tops of the strings inside. Leave an opening in the bottom for the raindrops to be stuffed inside and fall out like rain. Preschoolers love this step!
Finally...let it rain!
Once your preschooler completes their craft they can hold it up and let the drops fall like rain! They can repeat this by slipping the rain drops back into the cloud. Pair this activity with a fun raindrop song, or raindrop book.
