Moon Sand Ingredient List
Create Your Moon Sand
This step is a great opportunity for some preschool math fun! Break out the measuring cups and invite your preschooler to measure 8 cups of flour and dump it into the bowl.
Next, measure out 1 cup of baby oil (pause to allow your preschooler to gently explore the smell and texture of the oil) and pour unto the center of the flour.
Next, your preschooler will stir up the mixture until it is combined. This is a great step for preschoolers because they are working out the muscles in their arms and hands as they mix. Keep mixing until the desired consistency is reached.
Hooray! It's done, that's all there is to it! Simply add some fun accessories including some little astronauts (perfect for an Outer Space Preschool Theme) scoops and containers. Some little sand castle molds would also be great for this mixture (perfect for a Fun in the Summer Sun Theme).
More Than Just Fun
Creating fun activities for preschoolers is essential to keep them engaged. Beyond being fun, this sensory rich activity is also great for exploring measurement and fantastic for small world play.
When you add small play accessories to the moon sand, children can create all kinds of fun scenarios where their imagination comes to life. Little building accessories, scoops and molds are great for children to thoroughly explore this material.
Keep the fun going by adding different accessories each time they come back to visit this activity.
