Build a Leprechaun Trap with Preschoolers
Preschoolers can engineer their very own leprechaun trap with a few simple materials. This is a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with your preschoolers.
Start off this activity by encouraging your preschooler to consider the plan for their trap. Offer time for them to examine the materials offered and request any additional materials. They might like to draw a blueprint of their project prior to constructing.
Fill the plastic pot with gold coins to lure in the subject.
Place artificial grass over the opening on the tissue box concealing the trap. Encourage your preschooler to examine the trap from all angles to make sure the trap is hidden.
*Conceal is a great 50 cent word to insert into your conversation with your preschooler during this activity.
Place the pot of gold on one end of the tissue box with additional gold coins in a trail
from the other side of the box.
They will go for the gold but fall into the covered opening and be trapped!
Ask your preschooler to predict whether they think their trap will work.
They might wish to test the trap with some action figures and then make adjustments as desired.
Some really sneaky leprechauns might scoop up the coins and not fall in the trap. The evidence might be little green footprints on the outside of the box.
