Take time to explore hibernation and where some animals sleep in the winter with preschoolers. Invite children to be a partner in reading a story with the included Rebus Story "The Bear's Long Winter Nap" in which a bear prepares for hibernation. Rebus Stories support children as they learn that print carries meaning.
As children follow along they are learning:
Encourage children to show what they know! Can they figure out where the animals sleep? Practice positional phrases in this fun game!
Support children in their development of Historical Thinking and Retelling of Stories with this Nap-Sequencing Activity.
You can set this up as a circle-time activity, place it near your literacy center for story retelling, or use it as a cut and paste activity.
Provide children with an invitation to practice their cutting skills!
