 It's cold outside, and time to bundle up in Winter Clothes. These activities align with a Winter Clothes & Staying Warm in Winter Theme. This is a great week for building fine motor skills as children learn to buckle and zip their winter clothes. This activity pack includes 24 learning activities to keep your preschool aged children busy this winter! Use these easy to assemble activities to add to learning centers, create file folder games, or tot trays. I have designed these activities to be used with simple manipulatives that you have laying around the house, or your classroom (Clothespins, Pom Poms, Etc.). Each pack contains a variety of activities that focus on some of the following skills: Colors, Shapes, Uppercase/Lowercase Letter Matching, Counting, 1:1 Correspondence, Patterning, Fine Motor Skill strengthening, and more! Take a closer look at the included activities...Mitten Color Match  This Mitten Color Matching activity supports preschoolers working on color matching and color sight word recognition. Mitten Pattern Match These children have lost their mittens! Examine the pattern on the mittens and match to the child with the same mitten. Winter Clothes Patterning  Which Sweater Doesn't Belong?  Examine each row of sweaters to find the one that doesn't belong, find the matching sweater piece and place it at the end. Snowball Shape Clip Cards  These little mittens each have a different shaped snowball. Identify the shape then clip at the bottom of the card to practice shape recognition and fine motor development. Hanging Mittens Counting Mats 1-10 After playing in the snow it's important to hang your mittens out to dry! Practice number recognition and cardinality with this fun counting mat. Mitten Counting Mats with Frames This version of the counting mats includes a ten frame for supporting early math development. Pair these with your own fun manipulatives such as these white sparkly pom poms to represent snowballs. Winter Clothes Count and Clip Card Winter gear sure seems to multiply! Add up the winter clothes on these count and clip cards, identify the matching number at the bottom and clip. Mitten Puzzles 1-10  Number puzzles are a fun way to practice number recognition, ordering numbers, and problem-solving. Mitten Letter Match  Complete each mitten by finding and matching up the uppercase to lowercase letters. Winter Clothes Word Wall Cards Word wall cards are a versatile tool in early learning environments. Use these cards for sorting winter clothing or in your writing center for inspiration in literacy activities. Mitten Lacing Cards  Preschoolers love lacing cards! While lacing these mittens children are working on hand-eye coordination and fine motor development. Roll & Color Winter Clothes  This roll and color game is fun to play with a friend or adult. Roll the playing cubes then color in the object on the page. Share one page or print one for each player. Winter Clothes Dress-Up Rolling Game This fun game can be played independently or with a friend! Preschoolers roll the cube, then find the clothing item shown and place it on the mat. **Teacher Tip: Many preschoolers have trouble remembering which items they should put on first in the winter. This activity could also be used to help students practice which items they should put on first! This girl is ready to play in the snow! Roll the playing cube and add winter clothing to help her prepare for winter fun. (also includes the same activity with a boy) Missing Winter Clothes In this fun activity preschoolers examine the person on each mat to determine what clothing item they are missing. They then find the piece with the missing item of clothing to complete the picture. Coat and Button Color Match This is a fun matching game for preschoolers to practice color recognition and sorting skills. **Teacher Tip: Older preschoolers may enjoy using real buttons, provide a variety of sizes for each coordinating color for them to sort by size as well. Fireplace Number Mats Preschoolers can practice counting with one-to-one correspondence as they count up the number of logs in the stack under each fire. Then they can match-up the fire with the same number represented as a ten frame or the flame number.
Spin and Color Numbers Quilt Game  This game is such a fun way to support children learning all about colors and numbers. Packing for Hot & Cold Climates  I think just about every preschooler I have ever met wants to wear their snow boots in summer and shorts in winter! Preferred style aside, preschoolers are learning to identify what clothing is appropriate for each type of weather. Use this activity to support their learning and perhaps encourage proper attire for the weather. Shop My Products I Can Get Dressed for Snow Cut & Paste  Learning the proper order of putting on winter gear is an essential skill for young children (have you ever watched a preschooler try to put on their boots with mittens on?) and they need plenty of practice. This activity is a great way to support this skill. Rhyming Sweater Puzzles  This rhyming game is a fun and engaging way to support preschoolers in learning to match and create rhyming words.
