Let's makes music...outside! One of the fun ways to integrate music in your outdoor space is by building an outdoor music wall. Music walls can be as simple or as complex as you choose.
Many of them can be created using old musical instruments, or a variety of recycled materials. You can attach items to your fence, or create a free standing wall. Provide a variety of drum sticks such as: wooden spoons, whisks or other kitchen utensils.

Check out this low cost Music Wall Angela W. made using a pallet. She said most of these items came from the Dollar Store!
This clever outdoor music station was built by community member, Laura Hick of SweetPea Dayhome. Laura was able to find xylophones and chimes from thrift stores. She purchased the pipes from the plumbing section at the hardware store. To get the pipes to sit in the hole she glued a connector piece to each one. To "play" the tubes- Laura cut out a rubber "mallet" from a garden kneeling pad.
Who says you can't make music outside? Carrie's Outdoor Music Space combines several recycled items. (I love the utensils for playing the wall!)

Louise's backyard music garden is the perfect place to strike up the band. What a great use for old pans!
This fun outdoor music space belongs to Shelley. I love the multi colored PVC pipes, and the Trashcan. Don't forget to overlook everyday objects that can be turned into something new!
Cathy has such a simple way to incorporate a music wall into her back yard (I like the added the Instrument storage too!)
