Cement Photo Holder Preschool Craft
Preschoolers love making crafts, there are so many fun art mediums for them to explore. Go beyond the typical paint, clay, and paper crafts with an engaging experiment with cement.
One thing preschoolers love even more is making crafts they get to gift to their parents, grandparents, and friends! Little ones love gift giving, especially when they get to make it themselves. A wet cement photo holder is the perfect craft that doubles as a mini lesson in science.
Cement photo holders are a great way to let preschoolers explore materials that they normally don't get to use. It's also an excellent opportunity to teach preschoolers about what cement is used for along with the necessary safety precautions.
Teacher tip: These make great gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, or a holiday gift!
Start by mixing cement per package directions, different brands have different instructions so start by following those directions. We also suggest stirring with popsicle sticks for easy clean-up.
Ask preschoolers what is happening to the cement and talk to them about the consistency change as you spend more time mixing.
Once cement is mixed scoop cement into the paper cups.
After you have poured cement into all the cups, place a jumbo paperclip in the center of the cement cup making sure to place the clip with the end that will hold a photo facing up.
Allow time for the cement to dry. Have preschoolers make predictions about how long they think it will take too dry.
Finally have preschoolers place photos or artwork in the clip and proudly display!
We hope you enjoyed this fun and simple craft that preschoolers will love to use for gifts or a fun way to display their work.
