This pack includes basic shapes such as a circle and square, as well as shapes that may be new to some children such as crescent and parallelogram. 

These mats create a wonderful opportunity for talking about shape attributes.
Extend this activity beyond the mat.
Ask "What could you change to transform the circle into another shape?" 
"What else could you add?" 
"Do you see anything with that shape in this room?"
"Does this shape remind you of any letters? numbers?"

Once the shape is complete, your preschooler can fill in the number of corners on the shape with a dry-erase marker.
