Weighing snow
Take a scale and some buckets outside to weigh snow! After the first couple buckets encourage children to guess how much each bucket of snow will weigh. This could also be done in a sensory bin with a balance scale.

Snow VolcanoCreate a volcano in the snow!
Materials:
Help your preschoolers build a mound of snow. Make a well in the center at the top of volcano, big enough to fit the cup in. Fill the cup about halfway with baking soda and place inside the top of the volcano. Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with the food coloring and a few drops of dish soap in a small container that the children can handle. Once the vinegar mixture is ready it's time to pour it into the volcano and watch the magic happen! |
