Painting with a Toothbrush
Invite your preschooler to paint with a toothbrush
Fingerpaint Tooth Painting- Daycare Spaces and Ideas Community Member Monica V. of Monica's Monsters had her kids paint the yellowed Teeth white using finger paints. She also suggested having the older children use a paintbrush for this activity.
Community Member Sheena W. of Building Blocks invited her preschoolers to use a toothbrush to paint yellow teeth white.
Practice Brushing Teeth this week. Provide toothbrushes, water, Toothpaste, and Fake Teeth (*Shopping tip: You can usually find them in the Toy aisle at the Dollar Tree).
You can also use the bottom of Foam Egg Containers, White Ice Cube Trays flipped over, or the Bottoms of Soda Bottles (that you paint white) to re-create the look of large teeth.

Tic-Tac Teeth: For this project the kids at Monica's Monsters pressed tic-tacs into toothpaste (You could add a few drops of red food coloring or liquid water color to change the color of the paste). She noted this project takes a few days to dry. After it was dry, she used it as a model to show good flossing, and brushing techniques. (*Note she originally used Denture Cream in this photo, but it didn't harden)

Dental Health is an important topic for preschoolers. They are learning how to take care of themselves and learning about important people in the community. Talking about Dental Health gives children an opportunity to learn more about taking care of themselves, about the work dentist do, and it also helps alleviate Children's fears around trips to the Dentist.
Be sure to check with your local Pediatric Dentist, sometimes they can arrange a visit with your preschoolers, or give you free resources and "Goody Bags" for the children in your care.
