Christmas Visual Discrimination Activity
Help preschool aged children build visual discrimination skills, as they practice recognizing details in common items found around Christmastime. Visual discrimination skills help young children spot subtle differences in photos and objects. Having strong visual discrimination skills are especially important as young children begin to sort out different letters, numbers, and shapes.
This 14-page .pdf file contains the following:
- 16-Christmas Item Magnifying glass mats for the following objects: Christmas Tree, Ornament 1, Candy Cane, Ornament 2, Ornament 3, Christmas Cookie, Gingerbread House, Cup of Cocoa, Gift 1, Reindeer, Santa, Stocking, Bag of Presents, Wreath, Rocking Horse, Gift 2
- 32 coordinating magnified image cards (2/mat)
- TOS/Graphics Credit and Directions
Provide your child with a few of the magnifying mats and magnified images at a time. Your child will review the mats and magnified Christmas related images. Once a match is found, the child places the matched Christmas image on top of the magnifying glass. Play continues until all 16 images have been matched.
Alternative play: Print 2 sets of Christmas image card and play similar
to memory.
Extend the play by taking a look at items found at Christmas time with real magnifying glasses.
