About the Pre-K Printable Fun Traditions Series: Knowing more about how others celebrate helps children live in a diverse society with respect for others. These materials have been designed to help you teach, and facilitate thoughtful discussions about holidays and celebrations. These materials are designed to help young students learn more about different traditions and elements of different holidays. Although secular in nature, these stories contain accurate, and respectful holiday vocabulary; and are intended to help broaden your student's worldview about different holiday celebrations.
All of these materials have been designed to you help facilitate discussions about what your students know, want to know, and what they have learned about the holiday. These activities also give students a chance to share and reflect on their own family traditions, and similar shared experiences (even if they don’t celebrate this holiday).
Inside this set, you’ll find a rebus story written about a young child named John, who is excited to share about his Thanksgiving traditions! Readers will learn about how John and his family celebrate Thanksgiving.
You will also find a picture-word vocabulary list, a sequencing activity, A KWL chart, and conversation cards containing real photos. Students can use the included story props to create a cut and paste student book, or the educator can use them to create story props (such as create stick puppets or felt stories).
