Spider Shape Clip Cards: Directions for play: Using clothespins or markers of your choice, children “mark” shape of the spider to the shape on the bottom of the card.
Rainbow Spider Color Matching: Directions for play: Children match the correct colored spider to the same colored web mat.
Spider Race Rolling Game: Directions for play: Children roll the cube and move the matching color spider up one space. If the child roles the web no spider moves. This can be played cooperatively with each child taking a turn to roll and move a spider or independently. Play continues when a spider reaches the top.
Spider Pre-Writing/Cutting Practice: Directions for play: Children practice tracing, or cutting along the dotted lines. Laminate or Use in a dry erase pocket to use with dry erase markers for pre-writing practice.
Spider Puzzle 1-10: Directions for play: Children order the puzzle pieces from 1-10 & 11-20 to complete the puzzles. *Note the children can also use this type of activity for cutting & pasting practice.
Uppercase and lowercase letter matching file folder activity: Directions for play: Children take turns flipping over the letter cards. Using a “marker” or(such as a plastic spider, black pompom) or the card, children mark the letter on the mat as it is found. *For added fun consider hiding the cards in a sensory bin, around the room, or provide each child with a mat and call out the letters similar to bingo.
Spider Count and Clip Cards: Directions for play: Using clothespins or markers of your choice, children “mark” the correct number to the corresponding amount of items on the card.
Spider Patterning Activity: Directions for play: Children complete the pattern by adding the play pieces to the empty box. *Note this can also be turned into a cut and paste activity, or Pattern Strips as desired.
Spider Sorting by size: Directions: Children match up the animals to the mat.
Spider Web counting mats 1-10 without frames: Directions for play: Using plastic spiders, black pompoms or other spider counters of your choice, the children place the correct amount of counters on each mat.
Positional Phrases: Directions for play: Using the positional word cards, give directions. The Children will place the characters in the appropriate position on the mat. Example “The Spider went up the waterspout.”
Spider Web counting mats 1-10 with frames: Directions for play: Place the correct amount of counters in the frames on each mat.
Spider Cut & Paste Number Matching: Children cut away the spiders and paste them to the mat. Want to re-use this activity? Simply laminate and cut out the pieces.
Spider and Web shape puzzles: Directions for play: Children match up the word to each shaped web. *For younger children print 2 copies and play similar to memory. Purchase this activity separately!
Spider Number Matching Puzzles: Directions for play: Children count the spiders on each number mat and add the correctly numbered spider to the mat.
Parts of a spider: Directions for play: Children place each label on the correct spot on the mat. *This can also be used as a cut and paste activity.
Spider life cycle: Directions for play: Children place each label on the correct spot on the mat. *This can also be used as a cut and paste activity.
Spider Match Up: Directions for play: The children match up the spiders. *Alternative play: flip cards face down and play similar to memory.
