If you are following along with my Weekly Themes, this week is Bird, Nests, and Birdhouses week.
I love paper plate crafts! This one can easily be modified for different types of birds (Blue Jays, Doves etc.).
This craft was inspired by the Book "Little Robin Redbreast" Written by Mother Goose,
and Illustrated by Shari Halpem.
Supplies (per each bird): 1 paper plate, 2 google eyes, a Loop of ribbon,
stapler, glue, red & brown paint, and a paintbrush
Step 1: Use the bird pattern to trace the bird onto a folded paper plate. Have the children cut it out.
*Tip for the littles: Pre-cut the Bird pattern
Step 2: Paint the inside of the Bird Brown
Step 3: Wait for it to dry, flip over and paint the "Outside" Brown, and the Center Red.
Step 4: Once it it dry, fold up the bird along the fold in the plate
Step 5: Have the children glue both sides of the head together, and glue on the eyes.
Step 6: Bend the wings, and staple the loop
Fly away little Robin, Fly away!
