Fall Invitations to Play
Leisha Harrelson of Gingerbread Play House created this Fabulous Fall Discovery Sensory Area in her space. Leisha says, "Our Discovery & Sensory area is filled with signs of autumn just waiting to be discovered and explored. Items are laid out to engage the 5 senses. There are edible pumpkin seeds, edible sunflower seeds, pine cones, acorns, scented fall candles, a pumpkin, golf tees to nail into the pumpkin, ceramic owls, a new scale, fall animals, a new microscope, a fun game about squirrels and acorns, black locust pods, and milkweed pods".
"There are great books about fall animals, fall leaves, fall harvest, spiders, leaves, owls, fall weather, pumpkins and more! Can't wait for the children to be able to handle and explore the items tomorrow! Science, Math, Pre-literacy, Nature and Sensory activities are all blended together for wonderful learning fun. Children can weigh and record items. They can examine items under the microscope. They can explore the pumpkin from the outside-in...they can smell delightful scents of fall while eating sunflower and pumpkin seeds."
Leisha has placed several fall books in her spaces, as well fall inspired objects such as pumpkins, and animals.
