Create a sorting station
The goal of these challenges is to let things go. During the week, your 15-minute de-cluttering sessions should be focused on making decisions about what to let go, while your weekends are reserved for selling, donating, throwing things away, catching up and sharing your progress.
To prevent your items from piling up through the week, you are going to need to carve out a place to "temporarily" store the items you are letting go, so we are going to set up a sorting station. This will consist of a "Sell" box, a "Donate" box, and a Garbage Bag.
Make sure the boxes you select are realistically sized, I recommend you use a cardboard box for the "Donate" box, so that at the end of the week you can just drop off the whole box.
Another tip, is to keep your de-cluttering stations close to your work area, you don't want to spend all of your time running back and forth to your de-cluttering station.
De-cluttering can be a mental work out
Each day you are going to focus on decluttering your Daycare Space and make decisions on whether to keep or let go of your items. This can be mentally draining, so take your time.
As you work through this challenge it's helpful to ask yourself questions about items:
"Do I love it?"
"Do I use it?"
"Do I need it?"
"Is the item is broken?"
If you or your Daycare kiddos love the item- let it stay... if not, consider letting it go.
If you use the item-ask yourself how often? Enough to keep it? If you "need" the item-ask your self if you have anything else that will substitute, how much do you need? Can you let some of it go? If it's broken, can it be repaired easily? Do you have the time/funds to repair it?

Set a daily timer, turn on some of your favorite music, and pace yourself.

Remember: The weekends are reserved to focus on dropping off your donation box, selling your items, and catching up on any of the challenges you missed.
Decluttering vs. Organizing
The goal of these challenges is to get rid of the items that aren't adding value to your space. The items that you no longer use, love, need, or want. Once you get rid of an item, you will automatically have more available free space... both physically and visually. Less things= Less time spent cleaning them up. Less Clean up time=more time to spend on other things you enjoy.
I know "Organizing" our spaces to resemble staged magazine spreads makes us feel good ... at least for a little while. Eventually though, we need to maintain it.. re-organize, re-label, or buy larger containers to store more stuff in.. and maybe find a new place to store it because it just doesn't fit where it used to.
I want you to know that you can find the same satisfaction with de-cluttering.
As you go through these challenges, think about the items in your space that actually get "touched" during the day, during the Month, or even during the Year.
Kids are often content with less. We've all seen a child more content with the box, on Christmas Day, than the actual toy inside.
