The Dramatic Play area provides many opportunities for Children to practice "Life Skills". Children learn about every day life by exploring the items adults use on a daily basis. They learn about empathy and nurturing while caring for dolls. Young Children also learn about community helpers and careers by exploring different roles during Dress-Up play. In this space, they also learn about nutrition, and cooking.
Most Dramatic Play Spaces include: A Play Kitchen, A Child Sized Table, a Doll Area, and a Place for Dress up. Whenever it's safe to do so, provide children with "Real" items.
You can rotate various themes within your Dramatic Play Space including: A Market, Tools, a Restaurant, a Store, and a Doctors Office etc.

Another item to consider is storage space. Do the pieces you are selecting have enough room to store pots & pans, play food, and plates? Don't forget to consider DIY options, or small space options if space is limited.
