Our focus area for Today's challenge is your Storage Room or a Storage Cabinet (If you don't have a storage room). Find at least 1 item to let go!
Remind yourself the purpose of these challenges is to find items to get rid of, so don't get carried away with cleaning and organizing .
Ask you work through this area, consider these questions:
*Is it broken?
*Does it have all of it's parts?
*How often does it get played with?
*Do the kids love it?
*Is it age appropriate for my group?
*Is it durable?
*Does it align with your Toy philosophy? (For example: Are you working towards more natural, less battery operated toys?)
*Do I have multiples/something similar?
Decluttering tips for the future:
*Add a sticky note to the toy, if you use the toy remove the note. Check back in 6 months-If it still has a sticky note attached consider donating it.

This year our challenge will start on Sunday, January 3rd 2016.
How does it work?
Each day you will find a blog post highlighting a focus area. Your mission-should you accept it-is to eliminate an item or items you no longer need, want, use or love within the focus area.
Remember the purpose of these challenges is to spend your 15 minutes decluttering your items (not organizing them quite yet).
How long will it take? These challenges are designed to be completed in 15-minutes or less (think naptime, before/after opening, etc).
If you have allotted extra time for the challenge, I won't stop you, but please remember to pace yourself. Our spaces didn't become cluttered overnight-and we won't be able to declutter them overnight either.
Moving too quickly can cause someone to become overwhelmed. Baby steps ... baby steps.
How do you get started?
Step 1: Follow along with the Daily Challenges. These will be posted here on my Blog, on my Facebook Page and in my Daycare Spaces and Ideas Community Group on Facebook.
Step 2: Track your progress. You can print my 2016 Decluttering Calendar and check off a square for each of the items you let go.
Step 3: Share your progress! Share your before/after photos, or photos of the items you get rid of. You can can post your photos to the Daily Challenge Post on my Facebook Page, or in our Daycare Spaces and Ideas Community group on Facebook. Not only will this help keep you motivated and track your progress, but it will also help motivate others.
