With Summer in full swing it's a great time to plan some Fun in the Sun activities. This Beach inspired Sand Tray was created with items I picked up at the Dollar Tree.
This tutorial combines two of my favorite things:
The Beach, and creating Learning activities on a Shoestring Budget.
You will need:
Select 10 Shells, and Label the Inside of each shell with a number from 1-10. This activity can be expanded to include more numbers (1-20, Letters, or even Shapes).
Pour your Sand into your tray and display your shells around the outside.
How to use:
The Children can take turns flipping over the Shells and writing the matching number in the Sand.
You can also use this activity to practice counting, or for a more advanced activity
you can practice adding or subtracting.
To smooth the sand, you can teach the Children how to gently "sweep" the sand smooth
with the Paintbrush.
