Brightly colored paints (think oranges, greens, and purples)
Construction paper in various colors
Foam stickers (circles, ovals, etc.)
Gem stickers
Googly eyes
Scissors
Glue sticks

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Begin by painting the paper plates bright colors, or purchase colored plates in the desired colors.

While the paint dries, you can help the kids cut out various shapes from construction paper. Think about eyes, teeth, and noses. Encourage them to be creative! Circles for eyes, triangles for teeth, and ovals for noses are just a few ideas.

Don’t forget to cut out white circles for the eyes and small black circles for pupils. This part is great for helping little hands practice their scissor skills.

Lay out all the shapes, stickers, and googly eyes. Encourage the kids to start gluing their monster features onto the plates. Some may want to plan first, while others will jump right in. There are no rules here—every monster can look completely different!

Monsters can be as silly or spooky as your kids want! This is a perfect chance to talk about symmetry and asymmetry. Remind them that not all monsters look the same; some can have mismatched features, it's up to them!
