Craft Instructions:Begin by cutting a large barrel shape out of the brown construction paper. This will serve as the base of your craft. Make sure it’s big enough to make an impact on the white sheet of paper. Glue the barrel to your white paper. Cut two black curved strips from the black construction paper. Glue these strips across the barrel shape to resemble the metal bands found on barrels. Slice an apple in half. Take a moment to show your preschoolers what is inside and identify the different parts of an animal. Ask them what they see? What do the notice about the inside of the apple? Dip the cut side of the apple into the red paint. This apple half will be used for stamping. Start stamping above the top of the barrel with the painted apple halves. The stamping will create a fun pattern on the paper. The use of apples for stamping adds a sensory element to the activity, and the hands-on approach allows children to express their creativity by stamping in the pattern and design that they choose.
